ほっとひと息心地よい酒場をつくりたい。そこで飲むビールが手づくりだったら。それを皆でつくれたら。醸造酒場めろこと は、手づくりの美味しさと面白さに溢れたなごみ空間。このプロジェクトではめろことを一緒に楽しむ仲間を募ります
こんにちは。醸造酒場 “めろこと“の、もてきももこです。Hello, I am Momoko Moteki from “merocoto”.

“めろこと” の由来 The Origin of “merocoto”
私はスペインが大好きでして、めろことはスペインの言葉で、“桃”という意味です。
そして古くから、桃の木の下には、花や果実をたのしみに沢山の人が集まるという言い伝えがあります。
“めろこと”にもおいしいもの、たのしいこと、心地よい時間を過ごしに沢山の方に集まって頂きたい。“めろめろ”になれることが詰まった場所になりたい。そんな想いで命名しました。
I love Spain, and “merocotone” is the Spanish word for “peach.”
And there is an old saying that many people gather under peach trees to enjoy the flowers and fruit. I would like many people to gather at “Merocoto” to enjoy delicious food, fun, and a comfortable time. I would like it to be a place filled with things that will make you “fall in love.” That is the feeling behind the name.

・食への興味 Interests in Food
「自分でもつくれるはず」を合言葉に、フレンチのフルコースや握り寿司を家で作ってくれる母。私も同じ考えや、食への強い興味を持つようになりました。
My mother would cook full French courses and nigiri sushi at home, with the motto, “I should be able to make it myself.” I began to think the same way and develop a strong interest in food.
・醸造への憧れ Aspiration for brewing
東京工業大学で微生物工学を専攻しつつ、醸造への憧れが強く、醸造・発酵を愛する教授と飲み交わしながら、お酒メーカーへの就職を考えるも、銘柄に縛られず飲み続けたいと、しがらみのない日本コカ・コーラへ入社。
While majoring in microbial engineering at the Tokyo Institute of Technology, I longed to brewing, and while drinking with professors who loved brewing and fermentation, I thought working for a liquor manufacturer, but wanted to continue drinking without being tied to a particular brand, so joined Coca-Cola Japan, which has no strings attached.
・起業の基盤 Basement to be an entrepreneur
技術系職～新規事業開発～スタートアップ立上げ～ブランドマーケティングと多職種を社内で転々とするうち、これまでの興味や経験を結集したなにかを実現したいと思うように。
As I moved around the company in a variety of positions, from technical work to new business development to startup launches to brand marketing, I began to feel a desire to achieve something that combined all of my interests and experiences.

・ものづくり The World of Crafting
沢山の製品開発に関わるうち、多くの人が関わりながらモノが出来上がっていく過程や、そのおもしろさを知ってもらえる機会はないだろうか・・・そんな想いが芽生えました。
また、友人のご実家の田植えを度々手伝わせてもらううち、ただのイベントで終わってしまう寂しさや無責任さも同時に感じ、もっと継続してつくることに関わりたいと思うようにもなりました。
While being involved in the development of many products, I began to wonder if there was an opportunity for people to learn about the process of how many people are involved in making something, and how fascinating that process is.
Also, while frequently helping out with rice planting at a friend’s family home, I felt a sense of unsatisfaction and irresponsibility when it ended as just an annual event, and I began to want to be more involved in creating things on an ongoing basis.

・酒場浴 Bathing at Japanese Authentic Pubs
ある日、夜遅く仕事終わりで倒れそうになりながら吸い込まれた静かな酒場。常連さんが席を譲って下さり、「お疲れ様」と注いでもらったビールを口にした瞬間、「どはぁ～！」というため息と、心地よい脱力感。しみじみと、救われた・・・。
こんな居場所がほしい、仲間にも体感してもらいたいと思い、“めろこと”の開業を目指すことに。
One day, after work at late night, I was almost collapsing when I wandered into a quiet traditional Japanese pub. A regular customer offered me his seat and an owner poured me a beer with a word “Otsukaresama.” The moment I took a sip, I let out a sigh of “Ahhh!” and felt a pleasant sense of relaxation. I felt truly saved… I wanted a place like this more, and I wanted my friends to experience it too, so I decided to open “merocoto.”
